Korda Marshall has made an indelible mark on the music industry, and we are delighted to welcome him to the Rare team as Strategic Partner.
Quite simply, Korda is one of the most influential A&R executives of his generation. Across more than three decades in the music business, he has worked as a musician, talent scout, producer, label executive and managing director, helping to shape the careers of some of the world's most successful artists.
Marshall began his career at RCA Records in 1983 and was appointed A&R Director in 1988. During his time there, he signed and developed artists including Ash, Garbage, Muse, The Blow Monkeys, The Wedding Present, Pop Will Eat Itself, Londonbeat and Take That. After leaving RCA in 1993, he founded Infectious Records, which grew into one of the UK's most respected independent labels before merging with Mushroom Records and later becoming part of Warner Music Group in 2003.
At Warner, Marshall became Managing Director of Atlantic Records UK, where he signed artists including The Darkness and James Blunt. He later took the helm at Warner Music UK, overseeing major international acts such as Madonna, Green Day and Red Hot Chili Peppers, while also signing and championing artists including Gnarls Barkley, Foals, The Enemy, Pendulum and Seasick Steve.
Known for discovering groundbreaking talent and backing artists with long-term creative potential, Marshall's career has spanned some of the most significant moments in modern music. From The Eurythmics and Madonna to Green Day, Muse and The Prodigy, his instinct for identifying and nurturing exceptional talent has earned him legendary status throughout the industry.
Korda joins Rare at a pivotal moment as the company continues to build a new model for artist ownership, development and creative partnership. As Strategic Advisor, he will work closely with the team to help shape Rare's vision, support emerging talent and contribute his unrivalled experience in artist development and A&R strategy.
Marshall said: "I've spent my career backing artists who have something distinctive to say and helping them build sustainable careers on their own terms. What attracted me to Rare is its commitment to putting creators first, giving artists greater ownership of their work and creating opportunities that simply didn't exist in previous generations of the music business. It's an exciting vision, and I'm looking forward to working with the team as they help shape the future of artist development."
Welcome to Rare, Korda.
